FAITH, HOPE and LOVE. The greatest is LOVE
AIM
The church going out showing a caring hand without anything expected in return. Doing God’s work: offering care, friendship, a listening ear and most of all, love. This is given in times of sadness and happiness. People of the church giving of their time freely with the Blessing of the Kirk Session and the support of the minister but not organised by him.
TOOLS
Caring people - a single flower - a card with a simple message on it - faith - God’s love.

Visits on coming out of hospital - the minister visits patients from Penicuik whilst they are in hospital.
Bereavements - 3 months or more after the death and also around the 1st anniversary.
Illness, redundancy, burglary, loneliness, persons who have been involved with major tragedies.
Children leaving home, separations, divorce or just a visit.
Terminally ill people and their families.

Elderly and sheltered housing - when unable to come to church any more.
COST
Your time, which is what touches most people and is the most precious thing you can give.
A listening ear.
Leaving people with a connection to a church if they ever need one.
Members feeling the congregation cares.
A flower and a card given by the church.
A record needs to be kept of all visits.
Money - annually, about 200 visits are carried out. A budget is awarded to cover the cost of flowers and materials.
For this all to work, it requires Elders and members of the congregation to hand in names and details. Confidentiality is essential.
North Kirk Pastoral Care started with 5 people. This is now numbered at more than 30. If needs require it, anyone on the Kirk Session can be approached to carry out a visit.
We have the love and complete support of our minister, John Fraser and the Kirk Session. This is our 22nd year.
