    JOHN FRASER

John Fraser, minister at Penicuik North Kirk, was educated at Stirling High School, George Heriot’s School, Edinburgh University and New College. After graduating BD he spent nine months "inhaling the atmosphere" at Zürich University.

In 1972 he married Joan and they have three grown-up children.

From 1972 to 1974 he was assistant minister at Dundee : St Andrews and was ordained and inducted to Stevenston : Ardeer in 1974. In 1982 he moved to Penicuik : North and has been minister here for 25 years.

He has always seen himself as a parish minister, reaching out in care, concern and compassion and seeking to make Jesus known to all, churched and unchurched alike.

Under his leadership, our Sunday services are relaxed, informal and friendly and combine both modern and traditional forms of worship; and there is a feeling of belonging to the North Kirk family and to God’s family throughout the world.

He dislikes theological labels but, if pressed, is on the evangelical wing. He likes being part of a broad Church of Scotland because we all have so much to learn from each other’s different emphases, styles and forms of worship.

He is an ardent supporter of Tribal Generation, a worship event run by young people for young people, and the North Kirk Open Door Project, is thrilled with the refurbished church building which is open to the community seven days a week and has a vision of all the churches here working together to build the Kingdom of God in Penicuik.
