Inside PNK // The Plodders
The Plodders started up some 11 years ago when two friends, May Greig and Annette Heary went to lunch at the Leadburn Inn and walked back to Penicuik afterwards, enjoying the scenery and wild life on a beautiful sunny afternoon. They felt that this would be great to share with others who could manage a slower and flatter kind of walking.
Although lead by members of the North Kirk, the Plodders is open to all who enjoy good fellowship, a blether, a gentle walk, weather permitting, and popping into some suitable establishment at the end for a coffee or tea - sometimes chips or ice cream.
Since that first afternoon, the plodders have met weekly on a Tuesday evening from March, through to September leaving from outside the North Kirk at 7pm sharp, availability of cars permitting.
During the winter months we meet at members homes once a month. Details of the programme can be found on the noticeboard in the North Kirk Café. Contact numbers are Annette Heary 675198 and Hazel McEwan 675503
We have walked through Musselburgh, Roslin, West Linton, Biggar, Holyrood Park, Peebles, Silverknowes, Edinburgh at the Festival time, Loanburn and on wet nights we have enjoyed walks through IKEA and Big W.
There have also been outings for meals, theatre, days away, weekend breaks and one 5 day trip. We number around 24 with 15 there most weeks. Feel free to come when you are able.
